LIHU‘E — Hobey Goodale will start off the excitement of the 32nd Annual Christmas Craft Fair at the Kaua‘i Museum.
Goodale is one of eight local book authors who will be available for book signing during the craft fair, which will run Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the museum located at 4428 Rice St. in Lihu‘e.
Goodale also plans to get things going ahead of that by being available Thursday from 10 a.m., said Lyah Kama-Drake of the Kaua‘i Museum.
During the Friday craft fair, Pam Varma Brown will be available to sign copies of her “Kaua‘i Stories,” ahead of its official Sunday launch. Joining her are former mayor Maryanne Kusaka with her “Woman of Distinction,” Felicia Cowden with her “Life is the School,” Agnes Marti-Kini with “Anahola,” Dawn Kawahara with “Behold Kaua‘i,” Chucky Boy Chock with “Ama” and retired Judge Bill Fernandes with “Rainbow Over Kapa‘a” and “Kaua‘i Kids in Peace and War.”
Kama-Drake said registration for vendors will be accepted through today. Organizers expect to have nearly 30 vendors offering a variety of unique products, which can be used to fill holiday shopping lists.
The vendors fill the outside lawn area of the museum while the Kaua‘i authors and the White Elephant Sale for the museum gift shop draws people into the hall, where a nativity scene brought over from Germany sets the tone for the holidays.
In addition to the White Elephant Sale, shoppers can get a chance in a Hawaiian quilt drawing, which will take place at 5 p.m., and browse through the selections in the silent auction which closes at 5 p.m.
The Kaiola Canoe Club with its traditional Hawaiian plate will anchor the “food court” area in the parking lot of the Lihu‘e Civic Center.
Joining the canoe club will be the West Kaua‘i Methodist Church — with aromatic have malasadas drawing crowds to its table — and the Drake and Akana ‘ohana.
In addition, Westy Morita will have selections of gourmet cupcakes from Sugar Mill Cupcakes in Kapa‘a.
Two lunch wagons, JC’s Wagon, with Puerto Rican menu items, and Jake’s lunch wagon will round out the culinary selections.
