This week’s drinks comes from a collection of handcrafted cocktails only found at Keoki’s Paradise. These cocktails are among some of the best tasting and most refreshing drinks on the island — with prices ranging from $9 to $13 — and each are uniquely flavored to capture the taste of the islands.
Beverage Manager Maile Shklov said that Keoki’s, in partnership with Southern Wine and Spirits, created the drink menu in-house. The cocktails first made their appearances a year ago.
Skinny Ginger Chi Chi
The Skinny Ginger Chi Chi, $9, is a favorite among regulars at Keoki’s Paradise. It consists of coconut vodka, ginger liqueur, fresh lime, pineapple juice and is served on the rocks. The creation of this drink is simple. The bartender that day, Kellie Montemayor, poured all the ingredients into a shaker, shook the buggah and strained the finished mixture in a cup of ice. What was left was a well-balanced concoction of onolicious flavor and refreshing triumph.
Alongside Keoki’s handcrafted cocktails are its drink specials. Keoki’s is home to ice cold, 29 degree, draft beer on tap. When I first heard about this, it brought a tear of happiness to my eye. Finally, cold beer on tap! Everyday from 3 to 5 p.m., Keoki’s offers its Aloha Happy Hour in the bamboo bar.
There is a selection of 12 different types of beer priced at $4 a glass. Also during happy hour is Keoki’s Tropical Cocktails: five different cocktails are priced at $6 each; the selection of cocktails include Mai Tai, Pina Colada, Green Tea Chi Chi, Margarita, Lychee Cosmo and Str8 8o8 Martini — a mango, lychee or POG flavored vodka that will have you spinning, reeling and singing!
If you’re a wine lover, I suggest you try the house wines priced at $5 per glass. Sip on the tasty Kimo’s Chardonnay and Kimo’s Merlot.
With some of the coldest beer anywhere, and some of the best handcrafted cocktails, too, it is no wonder that my friends recommend Keoki’s whenever we’re on the south side of the island.
