OMA‘O — Daniel Hurtado, owner of Da Crack restaurant in Po‘ipu, finished third in the A Class of the 4th annual Holiday Charity Poker Run in Oma‘o.
Hurtado, who pledged all of Da Crack’s proceeds from the event to the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank, joined his buddies from the Garden Island Motorcycle Club and the Kaua‘i Motocross Racing Association at the Dec. 18 event which helped the KIFB by having spectators and riders bring a canned good or other non-perishable food item for the KIFB.
Event coordinator Bertram Almedia said 1,167 pounds of food were donated to the KIFB during the 2010 event.
Kelvin Moniz, the KIFB food resources director, said he was at the track collecting food during the motorcross. During the time he was there, more than 900 pounds were deposited in the KIFB van, Moniz said.
There were other collection sites where contributors could deposit food, including Suzuki Kaua‘i, Kaua‘i Harley-Davidson, Kalaheo Steak and Ribs, MidPac Auto Center and Kuhio Motors in Kapa‘a. Collections from these sites were not included in Moniz’s estimates.
When the dust settled on the event, Kaeo Dias topped the A Class followed by Travis Talbo and Hurtado.
Peter Ricciardi, Todd Rycenicz, Lance Corpuz, Kealoha Estrella, Johnathan Medeiros, Koa Estrella and Eric Nasao filled in the leaders of that class.
Nainoa Nobrega topped the B Class followed by Brandon Kanei, Cody Shibukawa, Koby Gamayo, Ryan Nakamura, Geordan Gray, Sky Alaibilla and Pops, no last name given.
Chava Greenlee captured top honors in the C Class followed by Jonathan Hine, Trisdon Yadao, Kevin Richards, Corey Kaui, Nainoa Ragragola, Ryden Tacbian, Cherish Pratt, Ekolu Lee, Jason Carvalho, Mitchell Nelson, Arnold Bunao, David Heiser, Puna Gallardo, Robby Stone, Kailani Durant, Jeffrey Gallardo, Steve Werner, Larry Hine and Taylon Yadao.
Mike Sheehan topped the D Class followed by Angel Cardenas Sr., Yoshi Ishikuni, Ryleah Torres, Rylan Torres, CeeCee Simons, Kekila Valmoja, Camile Parr, Emma Simmons, Elena Kealoha, Paul Medeiros, Jamilyn Kelekoma, J. Barry Brun, Barry Simmons, Kevin Parr, Donna Silva, Kendall Andersland, Keilan Gonsalves, Keani Torres and Wayne Pacheco Jr.
Jason Barth, Joe Funk and Bryan Rutigliano filled in the top spots for the Mountain Bike class.
