LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i Society of Artists’ “Small Work, Big Show” opens today with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m.
The reception will include an award presentation, pupus and drinks, as well as an opportunity for the public to meet with the artists.
The show includes 165 small works by 40 different Kaua‘i artists, according to Carol Ann Davis, a Kaua‘i artist, arts advocate and longtime KSA member and volunteer.
“They are all pieces that are 16 inches or under,” she said.
“Prices are generally lower, more moderate, so that people can buy gifts for Christmas.”
This year, she said the show features more landscape pieces than in the past, as well as a variety of crafts, ceramics, paintings and wood pieces.
Awards were selected by Kat Cowan (Alley Kat Art), Julie Berg (the Art House in Koloa) and Joanna Carolan (Banana Patch Studio). The show is chaired by Robert Lober.
The “Small Work, Big Show” is exhibited at the Kaua‘i Society of Artists Exhibition Space, located at the Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e.
The show is sponsored in part by Kukui Grove Center and the Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.
The gallery is open daily — except holidays — from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays until 8 p.m.
Kaua‘i Society of Artists is a nonprofit arts organization providing access to the arts on Kaua‘i for more than 25 years.
