Approximately 200 people gathered at the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort and Spa’s Yum Cha Asian Eatery in Po‘ipu Nov. 10 for “Year of the Dragon.”
The exclusive all-you-can-eat tasting party from 6 to 9:30 p.m. featured live music by John Rivera and Greenstone Project, food action stations, drinks, dancing, prizes and more. A portion of all proceeds have been donated to the Kaua‘i United Way.
Saturday’s menu featured pork shumai, pot stickers, sushi, Ahi poke and wonton, Pad Thai, wagyu szechuan beef and whole mahi mahi, as well as beer, wine and specialty cocktails. Prize drawings included an Anara Spa gift basket, two rounds of golf at the Po‘ipu Bay Golf Course and two $50 gift certificates to any restaurant at the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort and Spa.
As the prize drawing got under way, 9-year-old Isabella Roberts stood at the back, enthusiastically holding her ticket. When asked if she was going to win, she confidently replied that she would.
As the winning number was called out, Isabella jumped and said, “That’s me!” while her mother, Denise Roberts, cheered and laughed.
Isabella left with an Anara Spa gift basket.
“I think it went great,” Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Public Relations Director Diann Hartman said of the event. “It seemed like everyone had a good time. Great music and great food.”
Hartman said the Hyatt hopes to make it an annual event.
