KAPA‘A – The westbound lane at the Kawaihau Road/Kuhio Highway junction will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday to allow for the connection of a new waterline.
Motorists will be detoured to Haua‘ala Road while the work is being done and caution is advised while driving through the area.
The project is part of an extension of Ke Ala Hele Makalae, the multi-use path. The extension spans approximately one-half mile from the junction and ends at the top of the hill at Gore Park.
Kaikor Construction Co., Inc. was awarded a $3.75 million contract to construct two segments of the multi-use path including the Kawaihau extension and the Papaloa Road segment in Wailua. Both are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
