NSA has offered the annual Christmas Soccer Camp and Eurotour Player Selection and Training for Kaua‘i players since 1996.
In addition to having lots of fun and learning the NSA way, hundreds of players have been selected to join NSA Tournament teams to participate in the international soccer tours and major events on the Mainland.
As a result of the Fall Break Soccer Camp headed by Hsu in October, Carlos Steinhaus-Lang, Hayley Overmyer and Haden Guest have been invited to join the NSA Tournament team to participate in the Surf Cup Thanksgiving Tournament in San Diego.
The tournament, according to the Kaua‘i Soccer Association website, is a major soccer event with international teams participating.
In 1996, the NSA Girls 13 team, composed of 50 percent Kaua‘i players, left a legacy by winning all 18 games and championships in the Stockholm Cup, Dana Cup and Dalecarlia Cup in Europe.
Team players on that G13 team include Arlene Devitt who went on to play soccer with the University of Hawai‘i program and served as a coach with the Kaua‘i High School girls soccer team under Reiko Yoshida, another member of the G13 team and current head coach for the Kaua‘i High School girls team.
Other players include Mytra DiLeonardo, Mariah Farley, Melia Foster, Emily Ishida, Kristian Keahi, Christina Marti and Brandi Nakano.
