Congratulations to sensei Elton Ushio and the Lihu‘e Kendo Club for doing an amazing job hosting the Hawai‘i Kendo Federation Seventh All-Hawai‘i Kendo Championships Saturday at the Island School facility.
Dennis Andaya was on hand with both his electronic public address as well as to take photographs of the tournament.
Sandy Kato-Klutke said her son Max was getting excited because he got to use the real swords during the Nippon Kendo Kata phase where he matched up against sensei Ushio.
More kudos to Tommy Noyes on a great effort during the Make A Difference Day cleanup (mahalo to Judge Alfred Laureta on the headcounts) at Lydgate Park. The Kaua‘i High School Key Club walked in the Kaua‘i United Way Walk-a-thon and still made it on time to apply new oil to the Kamalani Playground where Ray Carpenter had some of his Rotary Club of Kapa‘a volunteers re-chaining and cleaning up the swing sets.
OK, time to go check out the trick-or-treaters — Happy Halloween, Kaua‘i! Stay safe!
