LIHU‘E — Live Laugh Aloha invites you to help celebrate its one-year anniversary at The Live Laugh Aloha Festival Nov. 4.
The all-ages event is from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihu‘e and features a craft fair, food vendors, live music, a children’s dance party and a kendama contest.
“There’s not too many events on the island for teenagers to enjoy concerts,” Live Laugh Aloha Owner Kristy Kinimaka said. “I’m taking a little bit of everything I did over the last year and putting it into an event.”
The Kid’s Dance Party, featuring music by DKC Productions, is free from 3 to 5 p.m., after which time tickets will be required.
Registration for the Kendama Contest begins at 3 p.m. and the contest kicks off at 3:30 p.m. The entrance fee for participants is one canned food item, which will be donated to the Kaua‘i Food Bank.
“I didn’t want to make any fee to enter, but I didn’t want to make it free either,” Kinimaka said. “So we are going to do a canned good drive at the event.”
A craft fair featuring 20 vendors of Kaua‘i Made products will run from 3 p.m. until the final intermission. Kanuikapono Charter School will provide Ono Grinds during the event as part of a fundraising effort.
“It’s just going to be a fun day,” Kinimaka said. “There is something for everyone.”
Concerts begin at 6 p.m. and features local music from Madison and Endemic. Headlining the festival is Micah G from O‘ahu, who will be singing popular songs “Apple of My Eye,” “Feeling Good” and more. Tickets are available in advance for $12 at www.livelaughaloha.com and all Big Save and Times supermarket locations.
Keola Akau of Kaua‘i band Revival has designed a new T-shirt for the event, which be available for purchase.
Immediately following the all-ages event, those 21 and over are invited to attend The Live Laugh Aloha Festival After Party, featuring Micah G from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Cafe Portofino, located at the Kaua‘i Marriot Resort and Beach Club. A limited number of tickets are available and can by purchased for $10 at www.livelaughaloha.com.
Kinimaka says she is excited about putting on an event that will cater to all ages, as many concert events exclude teenagers from participating.
“I am hoping this can become and annual event for all ages,” she said.
