Lying for political gain
Almost every day more news is coming out about the attack on our embassy in Benghazi, Libya, which killed Chris Stevens and three other Americans. Just released emails shows President Obama, and his administration knew within hours that it was a terrorist attack.
Yet, he sent out his press secretary Carney, and Ambassador Susan Rice and even Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to lie about what happened. They all blamed the attack on a video about Mohammed that almost no one saw.
Even President Obama went before the UN, two weeks after the attack, and mentioned the video six times. Isn’t that lying in front of the world? I would have to draw the conclusion that the president didn’t want to admit that we were attacked by terrorists on his watch, and his middle east policies were failing.
So, the question is this when voting: Do you want a president who lies to you for political reasons?

Bus passes
Mayor Carvalho: Is there any reason to contract the Kaua‘i Bus pass sale to all the minimarts owned by the Kawakamis throughout the island? (Kealia to Kekaha), and is, or how much are the taxpayers paying for the service (Kaua‘i Bus pass sale) at the minimarts to the Kawakamis?
Why do they (the minimarts) accept only cash in exchange for the bus passes?
We have neighborhood centers throughout the same areas (Kealia to Kekaha) and all employed county workers. We should have them (neighborhood center employees) be in charge of the Kaua‘i Bus passes. Kaua‘i Bus travels through the routes near or close to the neighborhood centers.
Accepting cash only is unacceptable. We have a public charity servant (a very reliable servant) on the Westside that helps people who can not afford the Kaua‘i Bus passes, This charitable servant drive to Kekaha Minimart to purchase the bus passes with a check with their name/logo, etc., on it. Only to get turned away and no bus passes in hand.
Maybe this Kaua‘i Bus passes sale should be throughout and utilize the county employees that we already have at the Kaua‘i Neighborhood Centers.
Giving the contract for the Kaua‘i bus passes to Kawakamis Mimimarts and accepting cash only sure looks fishy. Seems like somebody’s pocket is getting full on our taxpayers expense, don’t you think Mayor Carvalho?

Lingle’s record is not impressive
“You know me,” says Linda Lingle in her TV ads. Yes, we do know her! Remember, this is the same Linda Lingle that gave us Furlough Fridays with fewer school days, making this the state with the least school days in the country that year. And while this was happening, Linda was hiding from concerned parents that were in her office.
Don’t forget the super ferry fiasco. In pushing forward the “not so” super ferry, Lingle flagrantly disregarded environmental laws. We are supportive of an inter-island ferry, but not one that arrogantly ignores laws made to protect our island home. And then there’s the $38 million taxpayer cost for unnecessary harbor improvements to accommodate the ferry. We must mention the additional $30 million loan-guarantee obligation, since the ferry went bankrupt after the State Supreme Court ruled the ferry should have followed environmental laws.
As she says, “You know me” how can we forget?
