John Ornellas Jr.
John Ornellas Jr. of Anahola died peacefully at Straub Hospital on O‘ahu on Oct. 5, 2012 at the age of 70. Born on Dec. 18, 1941, he was retired from Lihu‘e Plantation Company as a crane operator after 38 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Harriet Ornellas Sr.; in-laws, Stanley and Elizabeth Oana Sr.; and sister-in-law, Eleanor L. Carvalho.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Flora (Oana) Ornellas; daughters, Johnette N. (Patrick) Kinzie, and Pualani Ornellas; sons, Roland K. (Tida) Ornellas, and Kaipo R. Ornellas; grandsons, Kainalu K. (Nani) Ornellas, Kaikona K. (Shaylee) Ornellas, Kainoa K. Ornellas, Kaimana K. Kinzie, and Keoni K. Kinzie; granddaughter, Dayla (Palani) Camacho; great-grandchildren, Kaiana K. Ornellas, Kilinoe K. Ornellas, Kawenakai K. Ornellas, Kamalei K. Ornellas, Kealani K. Ornellas, Keani K. Ornellas, and Shelbri Ann Cosier; brothers, Raymond (Valerie) Ornellas, Michael (Nora) Ornellas, Stanley Ornellas, James (Bernie) Ornellas, and George Ornellas; sisters, Marleen (Matthew) Kaluahine, Madeline (Robert) Yokoyama, Beverly (Amil) Valpoon, and Evelyn (Lincoln) Takenaka.
Celebration of life will be held on Oct. 27, 2012, at Anahola Beach Park.
Visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. with service to follow at 11 a.m.
Scattering of ashes will be held at a later date.
Family requests no flowers at this time. Casual wear preferred.

MaryAnn Aki
MaryAnn Aki of Anahola passed away October 1, 2012 at the age of 93. Born on September 28, 1919 in Moloa’a, Kauai, MaryAnn was a retired housekeeper for Kauai Sands.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Miller Aki; son, Fred Aki Sr.; and great-granddaughter Moana Benzon-Aki.
She is survived by her children, William (Hazel) Aki, Marian (Robert) Delapenia, Alfred (Helen) Aki, Richard (Priscilla) Aki, Melvin (Sandra) Aki, George (Joyce) Aki; daughter-in-law, Wanda Aki; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Ko’olau Hui’ia (Anahola) Church. Visitation from 9-10 with services to follow.
Family requests casual attire and flowers be omitted, interment will be held on a later date.
Benjamin Aquino
Benjamin U. Aquino of Hanapepe, Kauai, Hawaii passed away on October 17, 2012 at Hale Kapuna Heritage Home at the age of 87. Born on October 24, 1924 in Koloa, Kauai, he was a landscaper.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Burgess Aquino; parents, M. Quirino and Clara Unday Aquino; brother, Rudy Aquino; sisters, Katherine Lavilla and Trinidad Pagador.
He is survived by Elpedio (Elizabeth) Aquino, Wenceslao (Mary) Aquino, Don Aquino, Dennis (Anita) Aquino; sisters, Fely Begonia, Mercedes (David) Remata, Nadia (Pablo) Sarmiento, Dinah (Wally) Tavares; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Graveside services to be held at Kauai Veterans Cemetery on Saturday, October 27, 2012. Visitation will take place at 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with services to follow.

Robert Lillie
Robert Okajima Lillie of Wailua Homesteads passed away at home on October 20, 2012, at the age of 73. He was born in Yokohama, Japan on December 11, 1938, and retired as an office manager from Yokohama Okadaya.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Lillie and Mitsuko Okajima.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Lillie; two sons, Robert (Shari) Lillie Jr., David (Laurie Shiira) Lillie; and three grandchildren.
Private services will be held at a later date.

Rebecca Maka
Rebecca Kapoli Kaaumoana Maka of Haena passed away at home on October 12, 2012, at the age of 76. She was born in Hanalei on September 8, 1936, and retired as a chambermaid with various hotels on the north shore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Murphy Kuaihealani Maka Sr.; daughter, Henrietta Jana Alana Bond; daughter-in-laws, Lelie Annette Maka, Linda Ku’uleiakahelelani Kanahele,; parents, William Hulihonua Kaaumoana and Jane Lima.
She is survived by four sons, Murphy “Bobo”, Jacob, Keith “Fetta” and Sherman, hanai daughter, Jolly Ann Mahuiki (Greg); hanai son, Ed Hayes; brother, Harry (Barbara) Kaaumoana Sr.; sister, Hannah Kalaione Kaaumoana Lopes Jr., 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at Wai’oli Hui’ia Church in Hanalei at 3:00 p.m. Scattering of her cremains to follow at Hanalei pier with a paddle out.

Marie Louise Silva Manguchei of Wailua Homesteads died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on October 10, 2012, at the age of 66. She was born in Koloa on December 12, 1945, and was a foster parent for many children on Kauai.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Manguchei; parents, Antone and Madeline Silva, brothers, Anthony Silva, John Silva; father-in-law, Manuel Manguchei Sr,; brother-in-law, Manuel Manguchei Jr.
She is survived by her children, Chantelle Manguchei, Mary-Ana (Kawika Rabot) Manguchei, Barbara-Jean (Manny) Linoz-Hodges; brother, Joseph Silva; sister, Aileen (Francis) Brun; sister-in-law, Joyce Silva, Diana Silva, Mary Manguchei; 7 grandchildren, Maile Hodges, Puaolena Hodges, Jazlyn Manguchei, Shelton Belarmino, Jason, Daisy and Clarissa Gonsalves; numerous hanai children, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8:00 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens. Family suggests aloha attire.

Misao Kinoshita Ringor of Lihue passed away at Garden Isle Health Care on October 22, 2012, at the age of 90. She was born in Huleia, Kauai on February 7, 1922, and was a dedicated homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Katsumi Iida and Crespin Ringor; son, Gary Iida; brothers, Isoo Kinoshita, Sueo Kinoshita, Yoshi Kinoshita; sisters, Harue Nahinu, Alice Anama; granddaughter, Charlene Nance.
She is survived by five children, Carol Toyofuku, Larry (Arlene) Iida, Karen Iida, Leonard (Janice) Ringor, Kathleen (Seeper) Soogrim; brother, Kiyoto (Eunice) Kinoshita; four sisters, Sunao Pescador, Tomie Kelekoma, Fujiko Yamamoto, Kathryn Oyama; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Lihue Hongwanji with visitation at 3:00 p.m. and services celebrated at 4:00 p.m. Aloha attire suggested and family graciously declines flowers.
Inurnment will follow at a later date.
