KOLOA — David Thorp, librarian at the Koloa Public Library, said there will be a lot of good values in good condition books Thursday and Friday when doors to the Friends of the Koloa Public Library Used Book Sale open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Located in the library’s Humanities Room situated adjacent to the main library, Thorp said one of the strong offerings for this sale is the number and variety of cookbooks.
“Staff members were pulling titles off the shelf as late as Monday afternoon in preparation for the sale as well as to make room for new titles,” Thorp said. “We have a lot of good titles for good prices.”
Prices range from $1 for hardcover books and DVDs, 50 cents for CDs and paperbacks, including those described by Thorp as “trade paperbacks” which, when new, can fetch upwards of $15 apiece.
“Our children books are all half-priced,” Thorp said. “What that means is all the children’s titles are either 25 or 50 cents each.”
The Koloa Public Library operates with a staff of five, including Thorp and is open Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday hours are from noon to 8 p.m., Thursday hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
