LIHU‘E — Kaua‘i High School will be conducting its annual School Evacuation Drill Wednesday.
Approximately 1,300 individuals, including students, teachers, staff and administrators, will evacuate the school campus by walking along Lala Road and crossing Rice Street to Nawiliwili Park, according to a press release.
The Kaua‘i Police Department will be assisting school leaders with the evacuation drill. Contact Mahina Ah Yuen, vice principal at 274-3160 with any questions.
Wilcox Elementary School will conduct an evacuation drill off campus for all students and staff on Friday at 8:30 a.m.
Traffic along Malae Street in the Molokoa Subdivision in Lihu‘e will be stopped, along with traffic at the north entrance of Vidinha Stadium to allow students and staff to travel safely, according to a news release.
Their route will be to exit the school campus at the Kaua‘i Memorial Convention Hall parking lot, travel north along Hardy Street, and turn east on Malae Street, and then travel straight to the north entrance of Vidinha Stadium.
Kapa‘a Middle School will be having an off campus evacuation drill on Oct. 29 from 8 to 9 a.m. Students will be walking to and from Kapa‘a Ball Park. Olohena Road will be closed while students walk down to the park and back, according to a news release.
