LIHU‘E — Adarah Fujita and Atta Vinhaca were named the Kapa‘a High School Homecoming royalty during the halftime celebration Saturday at the Vidinha Stadium.
Fujita, a backrow specialist with the Warrior girls volleyball team, had reason to celebrate as Kapa‘a took Waimea to the first five-set match in the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation Friday night before dropping, 2-3.
Fujita was escorted by Micah Domingcil.
Fujita’s father, Brandon Fujita, is on the Kapa‘a football coaching staff and was busy getting a teacher to get photos during the halftime.
“It’s impossible for me to be able to watch the show when we need to be working with the boys,” Brandon Fujita said, trying to downplay his pride at his daughter’s honor.
Vinhaca, sporting the No. 20 jersey on the football team, served as the school’s 2012 Homecoming King.
Nani Brun, escorted by Mason Mendoza, filled the Miss Warrior slot with Kiana Flores, escorted by Tanner Henry, wearing the crown of Miss Touchdown.
Courtney Higa, escorted by Geordan Gray, donned the sash of Miss Victory and Tiffany Jarquio, escorted by Cameron Markow, rounded out the court as Miss Spirit for Kapa‘a High School.
Saowalak “Bee” Khaechawat and J.R. Quilos represented the Class of 2013 with Reina Jimenez and Drew Lopez taking the field as the class representatives for the Class of 2014.
Rachel Garcia and Dexter Barroga got the nod as representatives for the Class of 2015 and Kailana Kaimina‘au‘ao and Mosese Fifita represented the Class of 2016.
This Saturday, Waimea High School celebrates its homecoming by hosting the Kapa‘a High School Warriors at Hanapepe Stadium.
The event is a single game with kickoff starting at 4:30 p.m.
