KOLOA — In its overall efforts to improve bus service, the Transportation Agency will be implementing changes to its Koloa routes starting Sunday, Oct. 28, according to a news release.
“The changes are designed to make it more convenient for residents and visitors, especially those who work at South Shore hotels and business, to get around the Koloa–Po‘ipu area,” says Celia Mahikoa, executive on transportation. “It will also be easier for them to connect with Mainline Route 100, which heads into Lihu‘e, or Mainline Route 200, which goes out to Kekaha.”
The first change will be an increase in the frequency of the Koloa Shuttle Route 30.
On weekdays, the Koloa Shuttle Route 30 will run every hour, from 6:15 a.m. to 9:15 p.m. Since ridership is lighter on weekends and holidays (except for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day), the schedule will be slightly different – 7:15 a.m., 8:15 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 1:15 p.m., 3:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.
The second change will be the elimination of two mainline routes, No. 300 and 350.
“With the increased frequency in the shuttle, it will no longer be necessary to have these mainline routes service the South Shore,” says Mahikoa.
