Helen Obrero
Helen Aukai Obrero of Anahola passed away at home on Sept. 13, 2012, at the age of 75. She was born in Anahola, Kaua‘i on May 28, 1937, and retired as an entertainer with the Wailua River Boat Rides.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sandy Obrero.
She is survived by five children, Sandra (Hanu) Vea, Donna M. Obrero, Jonathan M. Obrero, Hattie Obrero all of Anahola, Darlene L. (Alvin) Sasil of Wailua; one brother, Hiram (Molly) Kaleiohi of Waimanalo; four sisters, Esther (Isidro) Pezario of Anahola, Julia (Eldon) Wasano of Kekaha, Florence (Joseph) Navas and Elaine Fernandez both of Anahola; 11 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Anahola Hawaiian Homes Park with viewing from 9 a.m. and services celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

David Remoaldo
David Remoaldo of ‘Oma‘o died on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at his home at the age of 88. Born on March 17, 1924, in Kilauea, he was a retired heavy equipment mechanic for Pacific Machinery and a World War II veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Mary Remoaldo; sister, Helen Data; and son, William.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret; three daughters, Susan Remoaldo of ‘Ele‘ele, Jennifer (Tony) Reis of Lawa‘i, and Mary Remoaldo of Bellevue, Wash.; two grandchildren, Tina (Will) Duarte of Las Vegas, Nev., and David Gusman of Hanapepe; five great-grandchildren, Elias, and Chelsey Castillo and Saige, Kane and Kade Gusman; sisters, Agnes Carey of Kailua and Josephine (Robert) Silva of ‘Ele‘ele.
Friends and family may call on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 at St. Raphael’s Church, Koloa with visitation from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. where mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Veteran’s Cemetery in Hanapepe.

Antonio Delos Santos
Antonio Galla Delos Santos of Hanama‘ulu passed away at home on Oct. 14, 2012, at the age of 92. He was born in Dingras, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on July 25, 1920, and retired as an irrigator with Lihu‘e Plantation.
He was preceded in death by two children, Rogelio and Lolito.
He is survived by his wife, Dionicia Delos Santos; seven children, Marina Gali, Salvador (Herminijilda) Delos Santos, Leonida (Ben) Ednilao, Sammy (Norma) Delos Santos, Benita (Phillip) Papagayo, Teresa (Angel) Ronda, Elena (Kurt Sr.) Williams; sisters, Francisca Peralta, Martina (Gregorio) Tolentino, Isabel Pedro; 23 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A wake service will be held on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at 6 p.m. at his home, 4330 Laukona St. in Hanama‘ulu.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens at 1 p.m.

Jonathan “Jody” Alvarez
Jonathan “Jody” Alvarez of Kekaha, Kaua‘i died on Oct. 7, 2012, at Kaua‘i Veteran’s Memorial Hospital at the age of 65. He was born on Sept. 26, 1947, in Waimea, Kaua‘i. He was postal carrier for the United States Postal Service, Lihu‘e Annex, Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i. He served in the United States Army from 1965-1968 as a communications center specialist.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Ragocos; father, Jose Alvarez; and brothers, Jose Alvarez, Jr. and Patrick “Flea” Alvarez.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel C. Alvarez; sons, Galen J. Alvarez and Ian Alvarez of Kekaha; granddaughters, Jahna Alvarez of Grand Junction, Colorado and Cydni Alvarez of Kekaha; mother, Josephine Alvarez of Kekaha; brothers, Gilbert Alvarez (Margie) of Las Vegas, Nev., Tommy Alvarez of Kekaha, Brandon Alvarez of Utah, and Vincent Alvarez of ‘Ele‘ele; sisters, Mary Alvarez-Manuel (Larry) of Kekaha and Cordell Blair of Colo.; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at the Wake Services that will be held on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012 at the Garden Island Mortuary, Lawa‘i, Kaua‘i, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Friends may also visit with the family at the Church Services on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 at St. Theresa Church, Kekaha, Kaua‘i. Visitation to begin at 9 a.m. with Mass to follow at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at the Kaua‘i Veteran’s Cemetery, Hanapepe, Kaua‘i.

Patricia Lynn “Patty” Oroc of Waimea, Kaua‘i, Hawai‘i, passed away on Oct. 4, 2012, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 59. Born in New Jersey on Nov.19, 1952, she was a gourmet chef.
She is survived by her husband, Eric Oroc; sons, Eric (Karli) Oroc, Marc Oroc; and numerous brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday Oct. 18, 2012, at Waimea Baptist Church, Waimea. Visitation at 9:30 a.m. Service to be at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kekaha Public Cemetery.

Prudencio Tacata Sr.
Prudencio Menor Tacata Sr. of Hanama‘ulu died at Garden Island Health Care on October 11, 2012, at the age of 76. He was born in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on Oct. 6, 1936, and retired from Sizzlers Restaurant as a utility maintenance.
He is survived by his wife, Presentacion Tacata of Hanama‘ulu; six children, Imelda (Oliver) Navalta, Elsa (Edison) Lucas, Phoebe (Victor) Devera, Mary Jane (Ronald) Olea, James (Hilda) Tacata, Prudencio (Jackie) Tacata Jr.; brother, Crispin (Betsy) Tacata; 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert Eugene Dwinell
Robert Eugene Dwinell died on Sept. 11, 2012, at home at the age of 76. He was born on Nov. 5, 1935 in Mt. Vernon, Wash. He was a retired accountant from The U.S. Department of Defense, as well as currently Saint Rafael’s accountant and Eucharist minister and Sacristan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Phil and Edith; stepsons, Donnie and Matt Thull; and sister, Phillis.
He is survived by his wife, Marianne Stephanie Dwinell; stepson, Mark Thull of Denver, CO; stepdaughters, Teresa Willhite and Diane Thull, both of California; and brother, James Ira Dwinell of Des Moines, Iowa.
Celebration of life will be held at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012. 9 a.m. mass, donations will be accepted for St. Raphaels’ building fund.

John Ornellas Jr. of Anahola died peacefully at Straub Hospital on O‘ahu on Oct. 5, 2012, at the age of 70. Born on Dec. 18, 1941, he was retired from Lihu‘e Plantation Co. as a crane operator after 38 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Harriet Ornellas Sr.; In-laws, Stanley and Elizabeth Oana Sr.; and sister-in-law, Eleanor L. Carvalho.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Flora (Oana) Ornellas; daughters, Johnette N. (Patrick) Kinzie, and Pualani Ornellas; sons, Roland K. (Tida) Ornellas, and Kaipo R. Ornellas; grandsons, Kainalu K. (Nani) Ornellas, Kaikona K. (Shaylee) Ornellas, Kainoa K. Ornellas, Kaimana K. Kinzie, and Keoni K. Kinzie; granddaughter, Dayla (Palani) Camacho; great-grandchildren, Kaiana K. Ornellas, Kilinoe K. Ornellas, Kawenakai K. Ornellas, Kamalei K. Ornellas, Kealani K. Ornellas, Keani K.
