LIHU‘E — Taylor Young reigned as the Kaua‘i High School homecoming queen as the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation football league entered its homecoming round Saturday at Vidinha Stadium in Lihu‘e.
Young was escorted by Mark Iida and driven around the stadium by her father during the halftime celebration where the homecoming court was introduced.
Mark Kimura of the House of Photography said this year was different in that he had to make two trips to the island since the school hosted its homecoming assembly on Tuesday where the queen and her court were named.
Alyssa “Malu” Vegas was named Miss Raider and escorted by Makana Cabral, Brandy Lee Macadangdang donned the sash of Miss Victory and was escorted by Cody Juarez.
Casey Anacleto donned the crown of Miss Football, escorted by Kerwin Morano.
Brendi Saito rounded out the court by wearing the sash of Miss Spirit, escorted by Joshua Nagao.
Class representatives included Chelsie Domingo and Jason Medeiros touting the flag of the Class of 2013. Kalei Kawaga, driven by her dad, Ross Kagawa, a Kaua‘i County Council candidate, represented the Class of 2014, escorted by Lance Tokita.
Jenise Suniga and Cameron Henry represented the Class of 2015 and Tiffany Applegate, driven by her dad Kaua‘i Police Dept. Lt. Paul Applegate, was escorted by Justin Bonachita, representing the Class of 2016.
The KIF Homecoming celebration continues Saturday when Kapa‘a High School celebrates homecoming in the Warrior kingdom.
The junior varsity football game kicks off at noon followed by the varsity match starting at 3 p.m. with the homecoming being traditionally done during the halftime of the match.
