HANAMA‘ULU — Lauren Manibog, 17, of Hanama‘ulu was recently crowned the 2012 Kaua‘i Queen of Charity at the Filipino Catholic Club coronation celebration held at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall.
The Kaua‘i High School senior was escorted by Robin Raza, of Kilauea, and received her crown before an audience of more than 300 Catholic Club members and guests.
Manibog, the daughter of Roland and Murielyn Manibog, presides over her royal court which include Princess of Faith Abby Joanna Iglesia of St. Catherine Church, Kapa‘a, Princess of Holy Shaely Manuel Wada of Holy Cross, Sacred Heart of Kalaheo, Princess of Peach Isabelle Jasmine Curtis of St. Raphael Church, Koloa, and Princess of Prudence Jolina Pascua of St. Theresa Church, Kekaha.
Father Anthony Rapozo of St. Michael Kona was the guest speaker during the event which included a prayer service in honor of the first Filipino Saint, San Lorenzo de Manila.
Anabel Portugal, president of the Kaua‘i Council of Filipino Catholic Club reported $20,000 has been raised by this year’s project, with the funds being used for scholarship and charitable work.
