Congratulations to Darryl and Leilani Low on the first anniversary of Ka U‘i O Ka ‘Aina cultural center at the Coconut Marketplace.
Uncle Larry Rivera (he was performing at the Coconut Festival, too!) was on hand since Leilani is one of his daughters and the real treat was watching Kamalani, Larry’s granddaughter, perform, all grown up.
And if Larry is there, so is Charlie Perreira who, instead of weaving throw nets, was busy having fun with the performers like Haunani Kaui who is the real Happy Camper.
Nelson Ka‘ai (remember how hard he used to work for Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative after Hurricane ‘Iniki?) was busy with his coconut frond weaving and Margaret Lovett had on a coconut hat which didn’t even look like it was made from coconut.
Mahalo to Lisa Iida and Michelle Lemi (she’s off to an early childhood conference on O‘ahu this weekend) for making sure TGI gets ALL the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation volleyball scores.
