Statistics have and will always be a huge part of sports. It gives you a snapshot into a game, season or even career. The Garden Island is now happy to provide full statistics and standings for KIF football. You will be able to find statistics and standings printed every Wednesday and Friday on the scoreboard on B2. I will also print a certain set of stats in this column every Friday. I hope you get as much out of them as possible. • Heading into the next game, both Waimea and Kapa‘a hold 1-2 records, with both teams needing the win to stay within reach of Kaua‘i (3-1). The last time these teams faced off, Waimea was able to impose its will on the ground while consistently rushing the ball and moving the chains. If Waimea can continue to run the ball, Kapa‘a may have trouble with the Menehune.
• On the flip side of the coin, if the Warriors can revamp its running game and limit Waimea’s opportunities, Kapa‘a could once again show a high powered offense, which got them past Kaua‘i the first time around.
No matter how you break it down, running the ball seems to be an important aspect to this game, both stopping it and moving the ball with it. The game may come down to which offensive and defensive lines perform better.
