LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i County Council will discuss Wednesday morning two requests from County Attorney Al Castillo to authorize up to $125,000 in private attorney fees related to two cases involving Prosecuting Attorney Shaylene Iseri-Carvalho.
The council’s agenda states the county attorney is seeking authorization to “expend funds up to $75,000.00 ($25,000.00 each) to retain special counsel(s) to represent the County of Kaua‘i, Sheila Miyake and Shaylene Iseri-Carvalho in Tim Bynum vs. County of Kaua’i, et al., Civil No. CV12-00523 RLP (U.S. District Court), and related matters.”
On a separate request, the county attorney seeks “authorization to expend funds up to $50,000.00 ($25,000.00 each) to retain special counsel(s) to represent the County of Kaua‘i, Office of the Prosecuting Attorney and Shaylene Iseri-Carvalho in Rebecca Vogt vs. County of Kaua’i, Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, et al., Civil No. 12-1-0273 JRV (Fifth Circuit Court), and related matters.”
