Luis opened with a 181 and followed that game with a 206 before marking a 133 in the third game to lead the Kaua‘i boys to a 2,258 pinfall and 12 points.
Darcie Vea rolled a 168 in her opening game and finished with a 166 in the final game to lead the Red Raider girls to a 2,067 pinfall and 12 points for the wahine.
Chase Ueno of Waimea surged to a 193 in Game 2 from his 167 opening and 157 closing pinfalls to lead the Waimea boys to a 2006 pinfall and eight points in second place.
Kawika Wellington marked the highest roll for Kapa‘a, posting a 180 in the opening game to lead the Warrior boys to a 1,752 pinfall and four points in third place.
Through the three games, Kaua‘i stayed ahead, banking on Luis’s 206 in Game 2 for an 819 pinfall, well ahead of any challenges from Waimea or Kapa‘a.
Ueno rolled a 157 in Game 3 to pull Waimea to its closest match against Kaua‘i, but led by the consistent 155 from Randy Iloreta, the leading Kaua‘i bowler last week, and a 153 from Keoki Palau, Kaua‘i stayed ahead of Waimea 695 to 660.
Paced by Vea’s 168 in Game 1 and Jaffia Cybele Ballesteros’s 141 in the same set, Kaua‘i girls posted a 689 pinfall over Kapa‘a’s 557 pinfall, the Warrior wahine getting 127 from Angelika Celia Questin and 122 from Alexa Thompson toward its Game 1, 557 pinfall.
Through three matches, Kaua‘i stayed ahead of the pack, finishing with a 2,067 pinfall for 12 points followed by Kapa‘a ending with a 1,669 total pinfall and seven points.
Waimea, edging out Kapa‘a for second place in Game 2 by just 15 pins, finished with a 1,555 pinfall and five points.
Lacin Montemayor, posting her best roll in Game 1 at 150, rolled a 132 in Game 2 and was joined by Janelle Papa nailing her day’s best 127 to lead the Menehune wahine to a 558 pinfall over Kapa‘a’s 543 pinfall, led by Questin nailing a 172, her best roll of the day.
Kaua‘i finished the second game with a 677 pinfall led by Malia Garcia rolling a 166 and Vea adding 147 before the Red Raiders soared to a 701 pinfall in Game 3, its best showing of the day.
Jea Kyla Sheyne Laganina lit up the screens with a 193 in Game 3, followed by Vea with a 166, Ballesteros and Garcia each adding 125 rolls.
KIF bowling continues Today at the Lihu‘e Bowling Center starting at 5:30 p.m., although the start time may vary depending on when the bowlers are ready.
