HANAPEPE — Firefighters are responding to a brush fire in Hanapepe Valley that began at about 2:30 p.m. today, according to a news release from the County of Kaua‘i.
The county reports there is no immediate threat to any structures and no injuries have been reported.
Engines 3, 5 and 6 along with Trucks 5 and 6, Rescue 3 and Air 1 are on scene. The Kaua‘i Fire Department has requested the assistance of a second helicopter to help fight the blaze, and helicopters will continue to conduct water drops until nightfall, if necessary.
Officials have not yet determined the size of the fire.
