KALAHEO — Kaua‘i farmers may now make reservations for Brydeswood Ranch lots in Kalaheo.
The project makes a total of 24 lots ranging from 4 to 17 acres available for agricultural use with prices starting at $600,000 per lot. The open space land will allow for agricultural-use including farming, raising animals, cultivation and for associated residences.
Suzy Hollinger, director of Investor Relations for Alexander & Baldwin, said the property is zoned agriculture, and has so far been in pasture use and leased to ranchers. Of the 24 Ranch lots, 13 will be available exclusively to Kaua‘i farmers for a 120-day period that started on Sept. 6, she said.
Alexander & Baldwin will take reservations from non-farmers, but Hollinger said it is a back-up to farmers who sign an agreement, she said.
“There has been no change in zoning with this Brydeswood Ranch project, thus the 24 ag lots could continue to be used for pasture use, or for any other agricultural use allowed by the County of Kaua‘i’s ordinances as well as for farm dwellings, which are also allowed,” Hollinger said.
Prospective farmers and developers should reference the county Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance, and specifically Chapter 8 of the Kaua‘i County Code to determine compliance, she said.
The Public Offering Statement is available at BrydeswoodRanch.com, or through the project broker Sleeping Giant Sotheby’s International Realty.
Alexander & Baldwin is Hawai‘i’s fourth-largest landowner with more than 88,000 acres of land primarily on Maui and Kaua‘i, with other development projects on O‘ahu and the Big Island. Its owns nearly 8 million square feet of commercial retail, office and industrial space in 45 properties in Hawaii and on the U.S. Mainland.
Brydeswood Ranch takes its name from the expansive McBryde family estate, which was also called Brydeswood. In the mid-1800s, agriculturist Duncan McBryde emigrated from Scotland and acquired a land lease in Wahiawa, where he built a family home and cattle ranch.
