Gov. Neil Abercrombie took time out of his busy schedule on O‘ahu to visit Kaua‘i Wednesday, making stopping points at the blessing of the Pi‘ilani Mai Ke Kai, Phase II of the Hawaiian Homes project in Anahola (Jeff Fisher of Earthworks is famous … two appearances in three days!) before attending a Department of Transportation ceremony surrounding the Kaumuali‘i Highway expansion project (Glenn Okimoto, director of DOT, said he was with Punahou High School during the Buffnblue’s final appearance at the Waimea High School girls softball invitational) and his first community talk story meeting where he got to congratulate coach Dave Walker and Nancy Fuller, Kaua‘i’s Outstanding Older Americans.
Janice Bond had her Women’s Caucus members helping to set up the meeting and Randall Francisco of the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce was making sure the audio system worked before the governor and his cabinet took the stage at the Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School.
Great job to Dennis Esaki and Wanda Shibata and their crew for setting up the day-tour for the governor!
