LIHU’E – Aron Nagao, 19, of Kapa‘a turned himself in after Kaua‘i police asked for the public’s help Friday in order to locate the suspect, according to a County of Kaua‘i spokesperson.
Nagao was wanted in connection with numerous criminal activities on Kaua‘i.
Nagao was observed getting out of a white truck in the parking lot of the Lihu‘e 7-Eleven store at approximately 3:23 p.m. Friday.
The truck had been reported stolen, and Nagao fled while police were in the front of the store apprehending a co-suspect in the crimes.
Officers pursued Nagao, and, as a precaution, placed the A-Plus afterschool program at nearby Wilcox Elementary School on lockdown, with a uniformed officer stationed on the school premises. The lockdown was lifted once officers determined that the suspect was not in the vicinity.
The co-suspect, Kamron Cortez, 18, of Hanama‘ulu, was arrested in connection with multiple burglaries.
