HANALEI — The Rotary Club of Hanalei Bay is accepting applications for golfers and sponsors for its Miniature Golf Tournament, which begins Sept. 17 at 4:30 p.m. at Kaua‘i Miniature Golf in Kilauea.
Proceeds from this second golf tournament will be used to bolster the repair Hanalei Pier fund administered by the Rotary Club of Hanalei Bay Foundation.
Registration for golfers is $37.50 for each golfer and includes a cookout on the grounds behind Kaua‘i Miniature Golf following play.
Hole sponsorships are also available at $100 each hole. Checks, which should be made payable to the Rotary Club of Hanalei Bay, can be sent to P.O. Box 1495, Hanalei, HI 96714.
Tony Motta, president of the Rotary Club of Hanalei Bay, said currently there has been $127,000 collected for the repair of the iconic Hanalei Pier. Motta hopes that with the help of the community and this golf tournament, the goal of $150,000 will be realized in the next few months.
“The Rotary Club of Hanalei Bay would like to thank all of the people who have contributed to repairing the pier, but we are not done raising funds for this project yet,” Motta wrote.
Sally Motta, a Rotary Club of Hanalei Bay member who initiated the repair project, said the club has also been speaking with the various organizations and agencies involved so repair work can commence.
The Rotary Club hopes repair work can commence by Dec. 1.
