LIHU‘E — The Kapa‘a High School Warriors took on the Kaua‘i High School Red Raiders Friday night, and the results were not pretty as Kapa‘a went on to a 43-14 victory at Vidinha Stadium.
Kapa‘a was aided by a balanced offensive attack and the Red Raiders could never recover after falling behind 27-0 at half time.
Quarterback Fresno Masaniai had a huge opening night for Kapa‘a who was involved in five of the Warrior’s six touchdowns.
Red Raider running back Waika Alapai had one of Kaua‘i’s only two touchdowns, however both came late in the game when the outcome was all but decided.
With the win Kapa‘a moves to 1-0 on the season as they prepare to take on Waimea next Friday in Hanapepe.
A full game story will be available in The Garden Island’s Sunday edition.
JV: Kapa‘a Warriors 6, Kaua‘i Red Raiders 6
LIHU‘E — Coming off of last week’s thrilling opening junior varsity game, Kapa‘a and Kaua‘i did not disappoint in the sequel Friday at Vidinha Stadium. Although similar in closeness, the game played as a polar opposite of last week’s offensive show. Game two was a battle of defenses as the game ended in 6-6 tie.
Both teams played bend but don’t break defense and the formula kept both teams in the game until the inconclusive ending.
Warrior quarterback Rudy Agoot contributed with the only Kapa‘a touchdown on a 2-yard touchdown run.
Red Raider quarterback Christopher Efhan responded in the third quarter with a 41-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Lanakila Wilson.
Both teams missed extra points, and that is how the game would finish.
These two teams will meet again on Saturday Sept. 29 at 2 p.m.
