WAILUA — Two passengers suffered minor injuries Wednesday in the second of two accidents on Kuhio Highway in Wailua.
Kaua‘i Police Department responded to a two-car traffic collision near Kuhio Highway at Marine Camp Road junction at about 12:30 p.m., according to a county news release.
Officers reported that a both cars, a Ford Focus and a Nissan Rogue, were pulled over on the southbound shoulder when officers arrived.
As traffic slowed for the accident, a second two-car collision occurred in the same area at 12:43 p.m. A southbound Nissan pickup attempted to make a left turn onto Marine Camp Road, when a northbound Honda sedan collided with the truck.
Both the 51-year-old female driver of the Nissan pickup and the driver of the Honda sedan, a female age 81, were transported by medics to Wilcox Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Both vehicles sustained moderate damages and the northbound outside lane of Kuhio Highway was closed for approximately 45 minutes.
