It’s been little under two years since Small Town Coffee was last featured in the Kaua‘i Times, so it was due time we visited one of the most popular coffee shops on the island.
As I got out of my car, stepped out on the gravel parking lot and approached Small Town Coffee, I was in awe at the amount of people cruising outside, laughing, talking story and enjoying cup after cup of assorted coffee. The atmosphere outside Small Town Coffee was the same inside, with the exception of jazz echoing wall to wall and employees dancing to its tunes.
“What a cruise place,” I thought. “If I lived on this side of the island, I would come here everyday.”
The friendly faces, jubilant atmosphere and tasty coffee is more than enough incentive to hangout and chill here. Two drinks that are featured in this weeks Kaua‘i Times are the Coconut Mocha priced at $5.25 and the Double Americano priced at $2.75.
The coffee brewed in these drinks are fair-trade grounded beans from Barefoot Coffee Roasters. The beans are as fresh as they come and you’ll taste its rich flavors when you sip these beverages.
Coconut Mocha
The Coconut Mocha is created in-house. You immediately taste the delicious coconut flavor; It fills your mouth with a familiar, tropical island taste. If you weren’t a coffee drinker before, this drink can potentially change your mind. This warm, comforting beverage is a favorite amongst regulars. The combination of warm mocha and coconut personifies what island coffee should be like: flavorful, tropical, warm and onolicious.
Double Americano
Owner and Manager of Small Town Coffee Anni Caporuscio described the Double Americano best: “I like the Double Americano short (six ounces). It’s like the simpler the better. You get the most flavor. Espresso is supposed to have three layers of flavor, and I feel that in the Americano you get all three layers. The Americano is a good representation of what coffee is.”
Small Town Coffee, located on 4-1613 Kuhio Hwy. in Kapa‘a, is open daily from 5:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
