Four poles owned by Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC) fell in Waimea town Friday morning, according to KIUC. One of the poles hit a car, injuring the driver. The extent of his injuries are not known but witnesses said they appeared to be minor. He is being treated at Kauaʻi Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waimea. Repair crews have shut off power to homes and businesses in the area and are hoping to replace the poles and restore power late Friday evening. The cause is under investigation.
