The Kapa‘a Warriors took on Kamehameha Schools Maui Saturday night on Maui. With the game still tied late in the fourth quarter, quarterback Fresno Masaniai connected with wide receiver Reece Hicks-Whetsel for the go ahead touchdown with 1:42 left on the clock, which led to the 27-13 win for Kapa‘a according to Yukie Desilva via text message.
Off of a Kamehameha fumble; Kapa‘a’s Cory Somera-Payomo was able to punch it in to give Kapa‘a the 13-0 lead.
Kamehameha was able to respond by tieing the game before halftime at 13-13.
Masania was not finished as he added a rushing touchdown on a quarterback-keeper before time expired, which finalized the Warrior victory.
In JV action Kapa‘a defeated Kamehameha 25-0.
Kaua‘i 39, King Kekaulike 13
Also in action Saturday night, Kaua‘i High School took on King Kekaulike. The Red Raiders got started early and didn’t look back as they came away with a 39-13 victory, according to The Maui News.
Waika Alapie kept on running to the tune of 14 carries for 151-yards and two touchdowns.
Also adding to their attack, quarterback Trey Aguano completed 8-of-20 passes for 131-yards and three touchdowns.
In JV action Kaua‘i High defeated King Kekaulike 30-15.
Waimea 21, Honoka‘a 14
On the Big Island Saturday night; the Menehune took on Honoka‘a and came away with the victory 21-14.
