Liolita Monces-Rita
Liolita “Violet” Monces-Rita of Hanapepe passed away on July 28 at Queens Medical Center, O‘ahu at the age of 72. Born on Feb. 16, 1940, in Lihu‘e, she was a security guard with Garden Isle Security.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maximino Monces and Florencia Aguano; brothers, Fernandino Pedro and Espidado Monces; sisters, Felicidad Malaia, Rufina Ancheta and Caridad Gomez.
She is survived by her husband, Patrick Rita, Sr.; daughters, Debra (Michael) Poe, Coreena (Kalei) Like, Doreena (Richard, Jr.) Olivas-Brun, Lori (Rena) Olivas, April (Ian) Christian, Jaymeesha (Puna) Strom, Ruth (Michael) Taboniar and Violet (Don) Carrillo; sons, Dal (Joan Suire) Olivas, Mark (Jolyn Like) Carrillo, Jason (Keli‘i) Carrillo; sisters, Trinidad Yaris-Inez, Betsy (Jessie) Ruff and Beatrice Jackson; brother, Crispin (Dorene) Aguano; numerous nieces and nephews; 27 grandchildren and 23 great- grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary Chapel. Visitation at 9 a.m. Service at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Evelyn Peahu
Evelyn Isabel Peahu of Lihue died at home on August 13, 2012, at the age of 82. She was born in Kealia Camp, Kauai on July 8, 1930, and retired from the DOE as a teacher’s aide.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Laura Souza; brother, Alfred Souza II and first grandson, Jimmy Leake Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Rolland Peahu Sr.; daughter, Rowena (James) Leake of Utah; son, Rolland (Donna Leanio) Peahu Jr. of Lihue; siblings, Pauline Williams of Oahu, Eleanor Ferreiro of California, Lillian Ortiz of California, Yolanda “Lannie” Carvalho of Mississippi; 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on August 22, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8:00 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Cremation to follow.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Peahu family with arrangements.
Daniel Sullivan
Daniel Sullivan passed away on August 11, 2012, at his home in Kapahi. He was born on September 14, 1935, in Minnesota and retired from the construction industry and was a Korean War Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Alice Sullivan; daughter, Mary Allen and brother, Rodger Sullivan.
He is survived by his long-time partner, Chelcee Buchanan of Lihue; his three children, Danette, Gary and Tom Sullivan all of Washington; 10 siblings, Eugene Sullivan of Wisconsin, Neal (Donna) Sullivan, Eddie (Kathy) Sullivan of Minnesota, Pat (Janice) Sullivan, Tom (Ruth) Sullivan, Nora (Gene) Limbo, Mary (Lynn) Ahrens, Linda Simonson, Susan Sullivan all of Washington, Bert Sullivan of Alaska; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held in Kauai and Washington at a later date.
