The Kaua‘i Lifeguard Association is offering a free public workshop about ocean safety and rescue, according to a press release.
The public can learn how to: safeguard against ocean rip currents; use lifeguard rescue tubes stationed on posts around the island; become certified in basic CPR and first aid; and learn how to perform basic water rescues.
Donations are appreciated and are tax deductible.
Once trained, members are qualified to join the Kaua‘i Beach Guardians program, which is comprised of a body of private citizen volunteers ready to spontaneously act to help save a drowning victim’s life where there are no on-duty lifeguards.
Space is limited. Call John Tyler, the training director, to reserve your spot in this workshop at (808) 635-7062 or email john@alohacpr.com for more information.
