Happy retirement to Wayne Wakumoto, the Kalaheo Post Office postmaster!
His final day on the job was a real event, complete with Frank De Lima having breakfast next door with Lyle Kobashigawa.
Lyle said he and Frank would go do the karaoke thing when they were in school together, and he was surprised the comedian stopped by on his way to Kalaheo Elementary School.
Lyle even had a pen (it’s plastic, Lyle said) from Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa who was sitting just a couple of tables down from De Lima, and BB Choi stopped by for his bento before starting work at FM97.
On the same page, hats off to Pat Baniaga who not only coordinated the 37th annual Hawai‘i State Senior Softball tournament, he coached the Rookies to one of two gold medals earned by Kaua‘i teams.
Mahalo to Stephen Fujii of Kawaihau (they got the second gold medal) for calling in to Jason Fujinaka with a team update Wednesday … maybe he was on the air when Ron Wood tried to call.
OK, ‘nuff said … primary election is done. Now, start thinking about the general election.
