Liolita Monces-Rita
Liolita “Violet” Monces-Rita of Hanapepe passed away on July, 28 at Queens Medical Center, O‘ahu at the age of 72. Born on Feb. 16, 1940, in Lihu‘e, she was a security guard with Garden Isle Security.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maximino Monces and Florencia Aguano; brothers, Fernandino Pedro and Espidado Monces; sisters, Felicidad Malaia, Rufina Ancheta and Caridad Gomez.
She is survived by her husband, Patrick Rita, Sr.; daughters, Debra (Michael) Poe, Coreena (Kalei) Like, Doreena (Richard, Jr.) Olivas-Brun, Lori (Rena) Olivas, April (Ian) Christian, Jaymeesha (Puna) Strom, Ruth (Michael) Taboniar and Violet (Don) Carrillo; sons, Dal (Joan Suire) Olivas, Mark (Jolyn Like) Carrillo, Jason (Keli‘i) Carrillo; sisters, Trinidad Yaris-Inez, Betsy (Jessie) Ruff and Beatrice Jackson; brother, Crispin (Dorene) Aguano; numerous nieces and nephews; 27 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary Chapel. Visitation at 9 a.m. Service at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Battie Domingsel
Battie “Takanini” L. Domingsel of Lihu‘e passed away on Aug. 1, 2012, at her residence in Lihu‘e at the age of 61. Born on Oct. 9, 1950 in Honolulu, O‘ahu, she was a meal manager with KEO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Betty Keala.
She is survived by her husband, Benito “Ben” Domingsel; sons, George (Berta Heath) Keala, Keala Domingsel and Kawika Domingsel; daughter, Haunani Domingsel; grandchildren, Piilani (Marleto Tomas) Keala and Kaleo Keala; great-grandchildren, Zaeden Keala-Tomas; sisters, Mary Keala and Napua Thatcher; brother, John (Judy) Keala; numerous aunties and uncles, nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of her life on Friday at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary Chapel.
Visitation at 5:30 p.m. Service at 6:30 p.m. Family suggests casual attire.

Francisca Domingo Short
Francisca “Sayang” Domingo Short of Tillamook, Ore. passed away on July 26, 2012, at Tillamook County General Hospital in Oregon at the age of 82.
Born on Sept. 21, 1929, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, she was a retired worker with Loco Motion and a waitress at Gabby Restaurant.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Justo and Susana Domingo; her husband James Short; three brothers, Rudolpho, Bernaldo and Tomas; her daughter, Nadine Alvaro; and grandson, Gary Cummings.
She is survived by sisters Loretta King and Flo Abrams; four brothers, Sylvester (Juana) Domingo, Philip (Georgia) Domingo, Ray (Janet) Domingo and Ernest Domingo; children, Gerald Alvaro of Kaua‘i, Debra Louis Alvaro Cummings of Honolulu, Reggie Patricia Crucet of Florida, Lani Ruth Short, Bill Johnson, Paul Short, Jeff Short and partner Romy Carver of Tillamook, Ore.; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A small private gathering will be held in Tillamook, Ore. by Mrs. Loni Short with family. Cremation arrangements are in care of Waud’s Funeral Home.
Jane Lovell
Jane Nicola Lovell of Anahola passed away on July 17, 2012, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 81. She was born on Aug. 20, 1930 in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hosea K. Lovell, Jr.; her son, Hosea K. Lovell, III, and her sister, Esther Kalama.
She is survived by her three sons, Soloman (Carol) Lovell, Robely Lovell and Kaina Lovell; two daughters, Althea (Clayton) Arinaga and Nalani Kaneakua; two brothers, John Nicola and Chauncey (Germaine) Nicola; four sisters, Blossom Churchill, Bessie Zoller, Helen Betty Ramirez and Faye Ann (George) Monte; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Celebration of her life will be held on Sept. 1, 2012, at Anahola Beach Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Family requests aloha attire.
