LIHU‘E — As part of an ongoing community outreach effort, Mayor Bernard P. Carvalho Jr. has announced the dates for his next round of community meetings to be held in August.
Meetings will be held as follows:
• Monday – Waimea Neighborhood Center
• Aug. 13 – Kalaheo Neighborhood Center
• Aug. 14 – Lihu‘e Neighborhood Center
• Aug. 20 – Kilauea Neighborhood Center
All meetings will be held from 6-8 p.m. and will include an update of the mayor’s Holo Holo 2020 program along with a report of islandwide and regional projects of interest, according to a news release.
At the Waimea meeting, the mayor and his cabinet will give an update on the new Waimea police substation, the new driver’s license requirements, the Kaua‘i Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy and road resurfacing projects planned for the Waimea district, as well as improvements planned for the Waimea Theater as part of the county’s islandwide road resurfacing project.
Carvalho last year pledged to maintain a productive dialogue with communities by holding annual meetings at each of the eight neighborhood centers as well as meet with each of the six community associations at least once a year.
The next round of community outreach meetings will be held at the Kapa‘a, Koloa, Hanapepe and Kekaha neighborhood centers early next year.
