Dwayne Reis
Dwayne Scott Reis of Hanama‘ulu died at his home on July 23, 2012, at the age of 51. He was born in Lawa‘i, Kaua‘i on April 22, 1961.
He is survived by his father, Harry Reis of Oma‘o; one sister, Ginger of the Big Island; one nephew and two nieces.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Cresencia Sagisi Acojido
Cresencia Sagisi Acojido of Puhi died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on July 24, 2012, at the age of 83. She was born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on November 24, 1928, and retired as a landscaper with Kaua‘i Nursery and Landscaping.
Preceded in death by her husband, Telesforo Acojido; siblings, Justo Laciste Sagisi, Celedonia Sagisi Galiza, Vicky Sagisi Hernandez and Josie Sagisi Gascon.
She is survived by her six children, Henry S. (Zenaida) Acojido of Waipahu, Julian (Clemencia) Acojido of Philippines, Luz (Christian) Labrador of Puhi, Teresa (Rene) Ramos of Puhi, Froilan (Marites) Acojido Cravalho of Philippines, Peter (Mercy) Acojido of Puhi; 22 grandchildren, Rizza (Carlos) Apuya, Roenalyn Acojido, Aaron Acojido, Alex (Gayle) Acojido, Arnold (Josie) Acojido, Mark Anthony Acojido, Ian Acojido, JR Acojido, Joanne (Chris) Hardesty, Jason (Jenna) Labrador, Jerrelyn Labrador, Charles (Riza) Ramos, Jessie (Oda) Ramos, Kristel Acojido, Brian Acojido, Lester Acojido, Irene Joy Acojido, Fiona Marizze Cravalho, Krishna Brielle Cravalho, Kenneth John, Keith Louis, Kristine Mae; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dominga Sagisi Alcaraz of Puhi, Elisa Sagisi Adaoag of Puhi; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will take place in the Philippines.

Maurice Contrades
Maurice Coopman Contrades of Lihu‘e died on July 20, 2012, at the age of 72. He was born in Lihu‘e on September 25, 1939. Maurice was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired Kaua‘i Police Department lieutenant.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dora and Joseph K. Contrades, Jr.
He is survived by seven children, Keith (Terri) Contrades, Lorna (Gerald) Basquez, Rowena (Michael) Pangan, Rhonda (Jeff “Buck”) Garcia, Craig “Kanani” Contrades, Michael (Christiane) Tresler, and Maureen “Mahealani” (Tony) Brun; sixteen grandchildren, Trichael Pangan, Tiana Pangan, Taleea (Kai) Carvalho, Teal Basquez, Tresten Pangan, Titus “Kai’oli” Brun, Trey Contrades, Taylor Garcia, Grant Basquez, Kelli “Kilinoe” Garcia, Lindsey Nakea-Tresler, Conner Garcia, Kukahiakeaoka’ohimauna Brun, Makani Brun, Kealalani Contrades, and Alexis Nakea-Tresler; three great-grandchildren, Kaohi-Maunu Cabacungan, La’iku Carvalho and Kailea Carvalho; Nine siblings, Stanley (Jean Yim) Contrades, Patricia Happek, Monica Contrades, Susan (Dennis) Brooks, Therese Staszkow, Thomas (Jackie) Contrades, Annette (Steven) Mananday, Robert Contrades and Lisa Curtin.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihu‘e. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with services to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be held at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens at 2 p.m. Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Contrades family with arrangements.
Hazel Kobayashi
Hazel Harue Puanani Kobayashi of Kealia, Kauai passed away on July 24, 2012 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 79. She was born on March 29, 1933 on the Island of Kauai, she was a retired post master at Kealia Post Office.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Riichi and Kealoha Kubo and husband, Masuo Kobayashi.
She is survived by her son, Marc Kobayashi of Maui, Richey Kobayashi of California; hanai son, Ronald Brown of Maui; daughter, Lianne Kobayashi of Kauai; sisters, Annie Christian of Las Vegas, and Irene (Bernard) Apana of Kauai; brother, Leslie (Sybil) Kubo of Kauai; hanai niece, Cherie Paleka; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday August 4, 2012 at Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, Kapaa Ward. Visitation at 9 a.m. Service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Japanese Cemetery, Keapana.

Charles A. Peterson Jr.
Charles A. “Pete” Peterson Jr. of Kapa‘a passed away at home on July 18, 2012 at the age of 91. Born in Stanley, North Carolina on July 1, 1921, he operated the Santa Catalina Mooring Service until his retirement in 1983. He was a decorated Veteran of the United States Army.
Pete was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy.
He is survived by his son Bill Peterson of Kapa‘a; his granddaughter, Kellie Peterson of Corona Del Mar, California, his grandson Colin Peterson of Dallas, Texas; and his great-granddaughter, Emma Clare Peterson.
A celebration of his life with military honors will be held at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Hanapepe on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 9 a.m. Donations in memory of Charles A. Peterson Jr. can be made to the Kauai Hospice.

Toyoko Saiki
Toyoko Saiki of ‘Ele‘ele, Kaua‘i died on July 12, 2012 at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 94. She was born February 26, 1918, in ‘Ele‘ele, Kaua‘i. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her four sons, Gerald (Pamela) Saiki of Honolulu, Steven (Elaine) Saiki of ‘Ele‘ele, Russell (Dale) Saiki of Mililani, and Bert (Lita) Saiki of ‘Ele‘ele; a daughter, Gayle Cuizon of Oma‘o; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services were held. Family requests no koden.

Tatsuo Nakamura
Tatsuo Nakamura of Anahola, Kauai, died on July 20, 2012 at home at the age of 85. He was born on July 9, 1927 in Anahola, Kauai.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Yoshiko Yoshii Nakamura.
He is survived by his two sons, Steve (Denise) Nakamura of Hayward, CA, and Dayne (Faith) Nakamura of Kapaa; daughter, Doreen (Glenn) Tanaka of Anahola; six grandchildren, Kimani and Jared Nakamura, Jaime (Jared Sunada), Kira (Wally Palacio), and Kaitlin Nakamura, and Tyler Tanaka; and three great-grandchildren, Tyren and Braiden Nakamura-Palacio, and Juston Sunada.
Private services were held. No koden please.
