LIHU‘E — The public is invited to a free debate featuring the U.S. House of Representatives, Second Congressional District, on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kaua‘i Community College Office of Continuing Education Building in Puhi.
“All four congressional candidates have said they are going to be here Tuesday,” said Carol Texeira of the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce.
According to a flier at the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce, the candidates will be debating issues impacting the business community in Hawai‘i and on Kaua‘i.
Tulsi Gabbard, Mufi Hanneman — both on Kaua‘i last weekend for meet and greet events — Esther Kia‘aina and Bob Marx are the four candidates who have said they will be in attendance for the debate.
Keahi Tucker, anchor for Hawai‘i News Now and an alumnus of Waimea High School, will be the moderator for the evening.
People can also follow the debate live on KQNG Radio AM 570. Ho‘ike Community Television will also be airing the debate on a delayed basis.
Doors to the Kaua‘i Chamber members will open at 5:30 p.m. with the general public being admitted at 5:45 p.m.
This is the second political forum being hosted by the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce. The first was a forum for Kaua‘i County Council candidates.
On Sept. 13, the Kaua‘i Chamber will host a U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives forum, also from 6 to 8 p.m. at the KCC OCET facility.
People who need an auxiliary aid in order to participate can call Texeira at 245-7363 or email info@kauaichamber.org at least five working days before the event.
