The Waimea High School cheer squad started the 2012-13 school year with a bang at the Triple A Cheer Camp in Honolulu.
The Menehune pepsters finished with a first place in Cheer, third place in Dance, a first place in Home Jamz and added a pair of Pride awards for their performances.
Under the direction of Roxanne Cardejon, the Waimea High School are the current defending Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation cheerleading champions and went on to become the first outer island squad to get top honors during the Zippy’s Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association State Cheerleading Competition.
Waimea finished tops in the Medium Division, edging out Moanalua High School by seven points in the division, which started in the 2001-02 school year.
Waimea team members include Taylor Langaman, Tiffany Patricio-Huddy, Kawena Warren, Kaena Kaohelauli‘i, Genessa Jardin, Nikki Vea, Kaliko Wa‘ahila, Bryana Resquer-Yorkman and Marissa Hesapene.
