Larry Rivera was thrilled Friday night. Not only was his latest CD released, he got a good parking space for the Lihu‘e Hongwanji Mission bon dance.
Now, he has to send a bunch of the CDs to Las Vegas since there were so many people on that ninth island” who took care of him on his last trip.
Hats off to Rev. Bruce Nakamura, Ted Inouye and all the many hands who made the bon dance successful.
Dane Oda even came out to spend time with Justin Kollar (mahalo for being the eyes that spotted Mufi) and other candidates Tulsi Gabbard and Mufi Hannemann got to be part of the excitement, too.
Janice Bond said she was going to take in the opening of The Storybook Theater International Garden of Peace so she had to do the bon dance on Friday.
And outside of the bon dance food (that roast pork plate was ono!), at the Saturday market, Sandi Kato-Klutke had some passion-orange (real passion fruit) mochi, its flavor lingering way after the mochi was gone.
(By the way, one bucket of lilikoi equals how many cups of juice?)
