KALAHEO — The 59-year-old Kalaheo resident who witnessed a shooting and suffered a heart attack Saturday is in critical condition on O‘ahu.
The witness was medivaced to Queen’s hospital early Sunday morning after spending the night at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, said County of Kaua‘i spokesperson Mary Daubert.
The person apparently suffered the heart attack while witnessing a 67-year-old Kalaheo man fire multiple shots at a neighbor’s house on Pu‘uwai Road, a county press release states.
The intended victims escaped injury and the man then fatally shot himself.
A neighbor who was outside Sunday said he was not home at the time.
Another was working on his roof and said he heard sirens but was not aware of what happened as police and fire department personnel closed off the area.
Police are continuing their investigation of the incident and cannot release any details at this time.
