HULE‘IA — A brush fire broke out Saturday at approximately 1:05 p.m. along Hulemalu Road about one-quarter mile west of the Menehune Fishpond lookout, a County of Kaua‘i press release states.
The fire scorched about five acres.
No one was injured and no structures were threatened, the release states.
Engine 3 and Rescue 3 were the first to arrive on scene. Engine 2, Truck 2, and police officers also responded.
While firefighters battled the fire, the officers closed off a section of Hulemalu Road between Halehaka Road and Menehune Bluffs.
The fire was deemed under control at 1:45 p.m. and fully extinguished at 2:20 p.m.
