Camela Sasan
Camela Sabala Sasan of Puhi passed away peacefully at the Regency at Puakea home on July 4, 2012 at the age of 79. She was born in Waimea, Kaua‘i on March 21, 1933. As a trained licensed practical nurse she worked at all three hospitals on Kaua‘i and was at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital when she was retired in 1993.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred G. Sasan; brothers, Julian Sabala and Richard Sabala; sisters, Esperanza Takabayashi Lacuesta and Rosita Santiago. She is survived by her son Frederick (Lori) Sasan, daughter Melanie (John) Borales; sisters, Juanita Umipeg and Eleanora Manaday; brother, Sunday (Paciencia) Sabala; grandchildren, Malia (Colin) Ceda, Joshua (Mackenzie) Rapanot, Iris (Joe) Rapanot, Scot Sasan, Jonathan Borales, Lorinda Sasan; great-grandchildren, Andrew Rapanot, Derek Terzi, Zipporah Ceda, Ananiah Ceda, Josiah Ceda, Isaiah Ceda; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A remembrance ceremony of her life will be held on Saturday at Lihu‘e Missionary Church, located at 4383 Rice St., with a family visitation beginning at 9 a.m. and the services to follow at 10 a.m. Inurnment and committal ceremonies will be held on Monday at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens, 4716 Ma‘alo Rd. at 10 a.m.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Sasan family with arrangements.
James Gandia
James Lum Gandia died on July 5, 2012, at Pali Momi Hospital, Pearl City, Oahu, at the age of 86. He was born on Nov. 19, 1925, in Kilauea, Kauai. He graduated from Waimea High School. He was a Hotel Night Auditor for Bittmore & Pacific Beach Hotel for 40 years.
Preceded in death by his wife Maxine Gandia, son Gary Gandia and a granddaughter Melissa Gandia-Rodrigues.
She is survived by his sons Derek (Annette) Gandia, Lindsey (Joycelyn) Gandia, daughter, Mara Lani (Stanley) Gandia -Wong, brother, Joseph Gandia; sisters, Mary Jane Gandia and Theresa Shimamoto, 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Our Lady of the Mount, Kahili Valley, Oahu; Mass at 10:30 a.m.; burial at 2 p.m. at Hawaii State Veteran’s Cemetery.

Toby Ledward
Toby Hjalmar Ledward died on July 13, 2012, at Kona Community Hospital at the age of 40, Captain Cook. He was born in Honolulu on May 10, 1972. He was a mason for Island Rock Masonry.
He is survived by his companion, Nicole Namordi of Kailua-Kona; sons, Loren Ledward of Waikoloa, Joshua Kirihara Ledward of Kealia; daughter, Harley Ledward of Captain Cook; parents, Lena (Anthony) Perez of Milolii Mauka; father, James (Mary) Ledward of Kauai; brothers, Erik Perez of Milolii Mauka, Chip Neikter of Maui, Kapena Ledward of Kauai; sister, Mahina (Curt) Ventura of Kauai; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. July 28 at Kahikolu Congregational Church in Napoopoo for a 9:30 a.m. memorial service. The family requests casual attire worn and flowers be omitted.
