LUMAHAI — One lane of Kuhio Highway will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Lumahai vicinity near Mile Marker 5.2 today.
Weather permitting, crews will complete road paving in the area.
The work started Thursday. If rainy conditions cause work to be postponed, lane closures may extend through Saturday, according to Bow Construction.
Flaggers will be onsite alternating traffic.
Drivers are asked to exercise caution while driving through this area.
It is advised to allow for extra time to reach your destination.
This paving is the final step in the project of repairing the roadway that was eroding into the ocean. A new concrete retaining wall that features a textured finish resembling a rock wall has also been installed alongside the highway.
