LIHU‘E – Kapule Highway was closed in both directions for roughly an hour Thursday morning following a three-car traffic collision.
According to a county news release, the incident occurred at about 5:40 a.m. when a Mazda pickup heading north rear-ended a northbound Jeep SUV, causing the Mazda to cross the center line and hit an oncoming Ford pickup.
The male driver of the Mazda, age 24, and the 54-year-old male driver of the Ford pickup were transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Kapule Highway was closed for approximately an hour while crews worked to clear the roadway.
