Congratulations to Coach Milton Koga and the Kaua‘i Protect Our Nation’s Youth All-Stars who won the Hawai‘i Region Championship on the Big Island Wednesday following a 12-inning marathon.
Danny Miyasato said the game lasted more than four hours, but the Kaua‘i boys were really tough and battled to the end.
The team was met by a lot of their parents and supporters including Ross Kagawa who gave Coach Koga the team’s first contribution to help get to the Nationals in California.
Coaches Philip Kamakea, Stephen Perreira and Bryan Aiwohi and the Kaua‘i Big League boys also left Kaua‘i Thursday for Bremerton, Wash., where they will be playing in the Regionals (anyone know if the games will be streamed live on the Internet?).
Kudos, too, to Alpha Harada and the Kaua‘i Market.org people who opened its Wednesday market next to Esaki’s Produce.
Magenta Billett and Karen Mavec hardly had time to catch their breath from the Saturday All Saints’ market before having to set up their Kolopua tent.
