Mamerta Tangonan Clemente of Wailua Homesteads, Kaua‘i, Hawai‘i, passed away on June 24, 2012 at the age of 75. She was born on May 11, 1937, In Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. She was a retired State of Hawai‘i Department of Health worker.
She was preceded in death by: husband, Julio Clemente; step-daughter, Julia Rojas; step-son, Richard Clemente; parents, Placido and Dorotea Tangonan; brothers, Ernesto, Adriano and Felix Tangonan; and sister, Consolacion Tangonan. She is survived by: daughter, Marjorie Pearson, Honolulu; son, Julio Clemente, Honolulu; step-daughter, Margaret (Ronald) Tanaka, Honolulu; step-son, George (Leona) Clemente, Waipio; brother, Arnolfo (Margarita) Tangonan, San Diego, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services to be held today at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church, Kapa‘a. Visitation is at 9 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial gardens.
