LAWA‘I — A three-car collision on Kaumuali‘i Highway near Lawa‘i snarled traffic for nearly an hour on Friday. No one was seriously injured.
The accident occurred around 3:45 p.m., after police pulled over a small pickup attempting to make a left turn from Kaumuali‘i Highway onto Kuli Road. It was struck from behind by a minivan, and was then pushed into the westbound lane where it collided with a westbound pickup.
The driver of the westbound vehicle lost control and her truck overturned on the westbound shoulder of the highway. She was transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries and released.
Traffic was diverted from the highway via Koloa and Lauoho roads for approximately 45 minutes while police and emergency responders were on the scene. No other injuries were reported.
