LIHU‘E — If you missed Brittni Paiva’s performance at the Courtyard by Marriott at Coconut Beach June 30, you can still hear from one of the most talented musicians ever to play the ‘ukulele.
On Tuesday, Paiva’s fifth and newest album, “Tell u what,” will hit the streets.
“This new record is something that I’ve ever only imagined,” Paiva says on her official website.
“I’m so excited to experience my favorite genres of music and be able to feature the ‘ukulele as a lead instrument in genres and styles like these.”
The 23-year-old from Hilo, also known as “ ‘ukulele darling,” has already released four self-produced albums — her first one was when she only 15 years old.
Bbut her fifth album was produced by none other than two-time Grammy winner and musical talent Tom Scott.
“We’ve put Brittni Paiva and her ‘ukulele in a variety of new and different settings — jazz, R&B, pop, funk, reggae and even classical,” Scott said on Paiva’s website, adding that fans will be amazed by beauty and versatility of the ‘ukulele in very capable hands.
“I wanted to feature her talents in a new setting and corral some of my friends to help out,” Scott said. “We recruited some of the best musicians on the planet — Michael McDonald, Arturo Sandoval, Ray Parker Jr. and Chuck Findley — to appear as special guests.”
The result, he said, is something very unique.
